Oh man, when I lived in Portland I wanted to open up a place like Xera, but with all flowers instead—weird annual varieties and perennials, David Austin roses.

"...you know that the ruffled pansies are going to be flying off the shelves!" A wonderful read, as always. Also, not sure if you are serious about starting a garden store, but even if you are only half joking, you should totally look into what it would take to start one up. Finding the right spot seems like it would be the toughest part, but oh man, can you imagine?! I can, and it looks absolutely darling. DO EEEEEEEET!

Thank you, Jason! I don't think I've ever thought of it seriously since moving here--I can't imagine how expensive rent would be for a store! I'm way too risk averse, which is why I'd have to win the lottery first, ha ha :)

Yeah, I hear that. I'd honestly feel the same way about starting a business. Even if it was based on my passion in life, what is the point if I'm going to be stressed out about money the entire time?

On the flipside though, it could be the best decision ever. Doing something you love and getting paid for it?! The dream.

Maybe the secret is not looking at the extremes, like succeeding or failing. Or maybe, clearly defining what "success" is and setting that expectation early is key? The expectation seems like the Achilles heel of most plans. Like, let's say you want to start working out, or cook an amazing meal, or grow a garden, or start a business, etc... naturally, we'd see/want the most ideal outcome, but when we fall short of that expectation we can get discouraged, which more often than not leads to us quitting. It's definitely not as simple as that, but could it be? I don't know. I feel like I'm just blabbering now, HAHAHAHA!

Follow your heart and dream big. I think if it ultimately makes you happy, it's worth doing.
